IBM T-40 Thinkpad will not power up

I've checked all connections even used power supply and battery from my other T-40 I know that works.

Took the hard drive out and put in another T-40 and it works

Just NO power!

Can anyone give me some advice?

Let's try this old trick:

Remove the battery, hard and media drives, unplug the AC adapter. Press the "power" button ten times in a row holding it down for ten seconds each time and thirty seconds the last time around.

Plug the adapter - but nothing else - back in and try to power on.

this means most likely you got a dead motherboard. One last question does the LED light comes on when you plug into the ac adapter?

Doesn't do a thing when I plug it it....NO lights at all
