IBM THINKPAD 42 - VISTA ULTIMATE - BLUETOOTH DRIVERS

I've recently upgraded my T42 to Vista Ultimate and all went well on the install apart form installing the bluetooth drivers..

There are now 4 Bluetooth Perphial Devices that Vista and Windowsupdate can't find drivers for.......

The 4 Hardware ID's are;

BTHENUM\{00000002-0000-1000-8000-0002ee000002}_LOCALMFG&000a

BTHENUM\{00000004-0000-1000-8000-0002ee000002}_LOCALMFG&000a

Can ANYBODY give me some help ? I'm desperately trying to get Nokia PC Suite to install correctly on my laptop but I can't use the Bluetooth Modem connecting to my N95 8GB.

PLEASE Help.....

even though this is the BT stack for XP/2000, it might work under vista.   i've successfully used older stacks under vista before so this is worth a try.

Thanks for that, managed to install the BT Stack, it managed to find some more devices but I still have the same 4 Peripheral Devices that wont install for some reason

I do not understand bluetooth under Vista 32/64.  What does it install as part of the OS?  When I plug in an old IO Gear USB Bluetooth adapter, it asks for drivers.  Since I am running Vista Ultimate 64 I am sure none of the W2K/WXP 32 drivers will work.

I have since decided that I will just buy a new adapter (they're cheap enough), while their vendor websites do not have Vista drivers, on multiple occassions upon contact with the vendor I am told they will work under Vista... I guess I don't know what that means, since they don't mention anything about drivers.

Help... clarification??

onix - your device needs a bluetooth stack and bluetooth drivers installed to work.   vista includes its own stack and lenovo provides drivers for the internal thinkpad bluetooth card.   the lenovo drivers also include a stack for OSes which don't include one such as server 2003/2008.

for your adapter to work you likely need to install the thinkpad drivers and the driver for your USB adapter.   without knowing more about what you're trying to get working, it's difficult to be more specific on what you should do.

Unfortunately I did not get BT integrated into my T61p motherboard, so I am trying to use an external one.  The one I have is an IOGear GBU-311 and I have a 64-bit OS.  If I cannot get this to work, I was thinking of buying the Cirago micro USB adapter, but I still do not have enough information to know whether that will work.

I did not not realize that you need a "stack" and a "driver" -- odd terminology I have to admit.  What happened to the days when you "only" needed a driver?

ahh... that little piece of information is an important one.   knowing that you have an external adapter rather than built-in, you'll need to install a different stack than what i suggested above.

the broadcom stack might do the trick: http://www.broadcom.com/products/bluetooth_update.php

otherwise, i know for a fact that the kensington micro USB bluetooth adapter works under vista.   i'm using it with my thinkstation under server 2008 x64 to drive a lenovo thinkpad bluetooth mouse.   it was $27 shipped through amazon.   this adapter uses a toshiba BT stack and has both x86 and x64 drivers for vista and XP.
