Hello,
I spilled sauce over the side of my T60 and upon disassembling it, I found out that one of the part got burnt on the underside of the motherboard.
I'm looking at ebay parts for a T60 replacement motherboard, type 1952, Label P/N '41V9539 JS' (This is a FRU right?)
Thing is, I can't seem to find the exact replacement for it, and I don't want to risk buying a board that won't fit/work.
Can anyone tell me which boards can fit to my T60? Are boards with the same Type # acceptable as replacement boards?
What should I look for so I won't downgrade my laptop when I replace the motherboard? (lower graphics etc)
Thank you in advance.

hi lovebes, welcome to the forum,
it would be helpful if you could post the full Type and Model Number of your T60; this will help members to help you. If it ends in CTO please provide some more details about the T60 e.g. graphics type. Please do NOT post your s/n.
Andy

Hi, the "pn" (part number) is different from the "fru" (field replace unit) numbeer. To obtain the fru number you could either find the label on the board, or you can do a parts lookup on lenovo's database using your model and serial. I'd be glad to help you with this, may even have a source for a board.

Thank you, guys.
On the bottom of my T60,
the sticker that has the product number is very whitened with usage.
I can only make out:_ype 1952 __44U
Other text on the bottom:
Type 1952
label P/N 41V9539 JS
Of the Windows labels: Windows XP Pro Refurbished, 44E3030
The laptop has a finger scanner, a 'ThinkVantage' button, Intel Centrino Due sticker.
Thanks so much for your attention and help.

You have a 14.1" board with integrated graphics, which is the lowest performance option for this model. There are several boards you can use to replace it, any T60 board from a 14.1 or 15" will fit, but not the 15.4" widescreen.
These boards are available with integrated Intel graphics, ATI radaen or ATI FireGL discrete graphics. The prices I pay for these boards range from $50 to $100. If it was my computer I'd install a board with ATI FireGL. This would require a new heatsink/fan assembly, but the end result is you'd have a T60p, a much more powerful computer, and what better time to upgrade then when you have to change the board anyway.

TuuS, thank you so much for your fast reply.
If I buy a T60p board with its factory fan/heatsink included, can I just install that board and not buy any different heatsink/fan?
I really like your idea, so I'd like to try it, and I found one in Ebay:
Is this is good fit for my laptop?
Again, I trully appreciate your sincere input. Thank you.

Hi all, new to the forum. I have a T60 1951-CTO. The FRU for the motherboard shows 42T0116, however this does not show on Lenovo's system service parts list. This laptop has the integrated Intel graphics. Can you suggest a replacement and also explain to me why this particular FRU does not show up on the parts list? Thank you in advance for all your help.

Best answer I can give you is to not expect the FRU number system and documentation to always make sense. Sometimes identical parts can have many different fru numbers, probably manufactured in different factories etc.
Your system can use any T60/T60p board used in 14.1 or 15 inch laptops, but not 15.4". If you use a board with discrete ati graphics you'll need a different heatsink fan to match.

Thank you TuuS, you are the best! Also, I have seen mention of you and another individual on this forum that may have motherboards for sale. My model is a T60 1951-CTO with the Mobile Intel 945 express chipset. I have already ordered the upgrade fan/heatsink assy., 41W6406. Another question is I cannot turn on the laptop with the power button when the DVD drive is installed. It clicks on and shuts off right away. I tried the "secret" reset 10 pushes and 1 30 sec push of the power button, but no dice. Any ideas on this..my best educated guess is the motherboard. Hope you can help. Thank you again!
