Read verification error

Greetings to all, I was copying and pasting, when, I assume, when the hard drive crashed. I did hard drive test and the response was indicating a read verification error. What do I do ? The machine is a T61p, Operating System is Windows XP with all updates. None of my files, only what is needed for operating software. Thank you.

Re: Read verification error

Your T61 needs a new hard drive.

Any laptop SATA drive in 9.5mm/2.5" format will do.

Cheers,

George

Re: Read verification error

[ Edited ]

You can do it.

Even if you've never done it before, it will take you less than 15 minutes.

Unscrew the screw that holds the HD cover and pull the drive out.

Remove the four screws that hold the drive in the caddy. Place the new hard drive in the caddy and screw it in.

Insert the new drive in the same manner that the old one was.

Re-insert. Screw the cover in.

Done.

Cheers,

George

Re: Read verification error

I've got a couple of newer Toshibas like this one and like them a lot:

As with anything else, YMMV.
