Screen Brightness to Low on High on Thinkpad T60

On my Thinkpad, the brightness is to low, even if I increase it to maximum. The only thing that seems to get the brightness to work correctly is connecting the laptop to an AC adapter. 

What could my issue be?

The maximum brightness in battery mode is less than in AC-mode to save battery power. You can  increase it in the BIOS under Config - Display - Brightness setting the value to "high" (see explanation text on the right side after selecting that item).

You can also check your settings in power manager, you probably have it set to reduce brightness when on battery power. This is the default setting.
