T41 NumLock on Boot

Every time I boot my T41, numlock is active.  It has the latest BIOS on it, and in the BIOS I went to config -> keyboard/mouse -> Numlock = OFF.  I also tried the only thing I found in the support docs, which was to log in, turn off numlock (Shift+Numlock), log off, and log back in.  Every time the computer is restarted, numlock is back on.  It doesn't matter if it's docked or not (there is no keyboard hooked to the dock) and it doesn't matter if we pick hardware profile "on the network" or hardware profile "off the network."  Any help would be greatly appreciated!  Thanks much!
