HI Gurus, I have a T43 1871 FU1 Model which is working fine so far. Recently my Original Battery is seems to be very weak, i thought to purchase a new battery. First tried with Lenovo, i heard that there are no battery replacements available for these models. Then i purchased an AGPTEK (Sanyo) Battery from Amazon.
Battery Details: Status : No Activity / Remaining Percentage : 100% / Remaining Capacity : 47.20Wh / Full Charge Capacity : 47.52Wh / Current: 0.00 A / Voltage : 12.39V / Wattage : - / Temperature : 22 c / Cycle Count : 1 / Manufacture Name : SANYO / Manufacture Date : 2010-09-19 / FRU Part Number : IBM-COMPATIBLE /Device Chemistry: Li-Ion / Design Capacity : 47.52Wh /Design Voltage : 10.80V
Problem: With AC Power system works perfectly fine. The Moment when i remove the power from AC and try to work with battery power "SYSTEM FREEZES" IMMEDIATELY.I tried to change batteries 3 times from the vendor.
I also updated the latest Bios - 1.29(70ET69WW) and tried with all other Power Scheme. I tried to search entire forums. With my Old Battery system works fine too. Also tried to diagnostics with Lenovo Toolbox, where test device functionality- Passed.
I appreciate any help to resolve my problem. Thank you

Hi and welcome to the forum!
As you can also see, the culprit is the aftermarket battery. These batteries are no good in my stance, and shouldn't be used. If I were you, I would return it and get a genuine from eBay or try to find one from the Marketplace of ThinkPads forum.
Hope this helps.

Hi,
Thanks for the response. As i mentioned, first tried with lenovo market place.I heard there is no replacement battery for this T43 1871 FU1 model. Then only i tried with all other vendors. Most of people in the forum discussed about buying battery from Amazon/Ebay as a second alternative.
Important Point: When i troubleshooted the New Sanyo Battery(AGPTEK) with LENOVO Tool Box, it PASSED the Test. And it says new battery is IBM-Compatible.And the battery charges fully and shows 100%.
Still i suspect some compatibility issue , even i updated Bios to the latest version(1.29) and also tried with different Power Scheme.Updated POWER MANAGEMENT to the latest version from lenovo.
ISSUE: THE MOMENT when i unplug the AC power, System hangs with new Battery power.
Kindly someone give me some technical inputs.I will really appreiate your response. Thanks in advance.

I've owned ThinkPads that were behaving in such a manner with genuine batteries that were starting to go bad.
You don't need a battery specifically designed for 1871-FU1. Whole T4x/R5x generation of ThinkPads share the design.
Although there are none available at the Outlet right now, bookmark the page and keep on checking:

Defective battery of any kind will eventually damage the charging circuit on the motherboard, so you're better off running the machine without a battery until you obtain a proper replacement.

Thank you very much for your response.I will defintely keep a look on the web site you have mentioned.
Problem is which ever vendor, im ordering these batteries , almost all the vendors sending the same Sanyo(AGPTEK) Batteries as replacement for this FRU P/N 92P1087.This is my 3rd attempt made with three different vendors. All the three times the same result.
Any help will be deeply appreciated.. thank you

A quick feebay search got me this:
I'm not affiliated with the seller in any way, proceed at your own risk.
Good luck.
