T43 Wireless Card Upgradeable?

Is it possible to upgrade the wireless card in a T43? It has an Intel PRO/Wireless 2200BG adaptor currently, but I want to upgrade it to make the most out of my new router (Asus RT-N56U). Would appreciate any suggestions for new cards (if an upgrade is possible).

Re: T43 Wireless Card Upgradeable?

There are no official mini-PCI "N" cards available for T4x units.

However, with a modded BIOS you will be able to use a generic card that's available on eBay, such as this one:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-Atheros-AR9223-Mini-PCI-ABGN-801-11N-300m-WIFI-Wireless-Card-/2209820515...

I'm not affiliated with the seller in any way - proceed at your own risk.

Cheers,

George

Re: T43 Wireless Card Upgradeable?

Thanks, I'll look for one that supports 5GHz as well. Any idea on where I might find a modded BIOS?

Re: T43 Wireless Card Upgradeable?

To the best of my knowledge that is the only mini-PCI card that supports "N" range of any kind.

I'm not comfortable posting a direct link to a modded BIOS on Lenovo's own forum, but its creator is known as TTAV...and search engines are sometimes your friend.

Good luck.

Cheers,

George
