T43/p 2668-Q1U New HDD rescue & recovery install, no WinXP ?

Greetings All,

Just installed R&R to new Hitachi 100GB, got 2010 error which I knew would occur until BIOS update. Anyway, shouldn't I get to Windows after the install is finished ? Just restarts with R&R again. Also Supplemental disk keeps stating wrong disk but certified Lenovo set. Did I misunderstand the process ? Any help greatly appreciated.

Thank you,

Donald

Re: T43/p 2668-Q1U New HDD rescue & recovery install, no WinXP ?

Once the recovery process is done, you get back to Rescue and Recovery, at which point only the Supplemental disk (or no disk at all) should be left to work with. Finally, after quite some time, XP will appear...many reboots in the meantime.

Wipe the drive clean, re-install from scratch skipping the Supplemental disk and see where that gets you.

Good luck.

Cheers,

George

Given your location, you can always stop by for a cup of coffee if the things don't improve for me to look at the machine...:smileyvery-happy:

Re: T43/p 2668-Q1U New HDD rescue & recovery install, no WinXP ?

Greetings again George,

All is working. From getting "Incorrect disk..." on 1st try, I swapped Optical Drive with a T42 waiting for rebuild.  After 2 hrs., perfect.

I'll look you up for that cup of coffee somewhere.:smileyvery-happy :

Thanks again,

Donald
