My Thinkpad appear to crash every time I try to restart. When attempting to restart, it would shut down and as the system is rebooting, I would hear beeping sound and it would just freeze. I have to hold down the power button for it to shut down completely and power back on again. I tried reformatting my laptop but still having the same issue. Anyone familiar with this? Please advise - Thank you in advance.

What is the specific beep sequence you're hearing?

Does it match any of the sequences described here: http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/diagnose-and-fix/d

Thank you for the link. I tried restarting again this morning to get an exact reading on the beeping sequence, however, it seems to be working again! If I remember correctly from the past couple of days, I believe the beeping sequence is "One long and two short beeps, and a blank or unreadable LCD." If that is the case (for future reference), how would I troubleshoot it? Thanks again!

from the chart:
One long and two short beeps, and a blank or unreadable LCD.
so, if it's one long-two short, the easiest would be to swap new ram in and see if the problem goes away. if it doesn't, then it may be a system board starting to fail. best to rule out the easy stuff first.
if it turns out to be a system board, a number of members in the community have much experience with this. two that come to mind are: Tuus and ajkula66, so they might chime in.

If two DIMMs are in the T60, first of all check the bahavior, if only one DIMM is built in. Replace one DIMM by the other.
Additional you can check the memory with MEMTEST86 (can be found on any Linux-CD or download and burn the ISO on CD).
