T60 dead - mobo compatibility?

Hi...

well, it happened. Sombody dropped a glass of wine on my T60, and it is dead. No power, no LED, no nothing.

I can handle some work by myself and in fact enjoy it, so I downloaded a manual and pick it apart, mainly to know which mobo model was in the thing, and if i can find one on e-bay.

Well, my mobo was of the 42T0116 variety, and there are plenty on e-bay. (E-Bay listing)

My question is:

apart from this number [42T0116], should I know anything else to avoir compatibility problem? I'm seeing different TYPES listed (1953-CT0, 1953DAU and others)...

I guess the LCD screen dimensions is important (14 inches here)... or not?

Thks for your help...

Re: T60 dead - mobo compatibility?

No.

I'm  interested in the 7-character model number located on the bottom of the machine, the very same sticker that holds the serial number (don't post that) and production date...

On a T60, it should look like 2007-abg, 1952-cde, 8741-fgh - obviously different combinations but just to give you an idea of what you're looking for.

Cheers,

George

Re: T60 dead - mobo compatibility?

the seven character code is your laptop type/model number, which found on the laptop's serial sticker (but don't post your serial number).

it should be in the format of the xxxx-xxx

Re: T60 dead - mobo compatibility?

Take a look here, under # 19:

http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/MIGR-62741.html

Every board listed will work, but ones with "Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 950" are a direct replacement.

Good luck.

George

Re: T60 dead - mobo compatibility?

So I guess this would work perfectly.

Question: why is my board number [42T0116] not on that list?

Re: T60 dead - mobo compatibility?

Yes, it will work.

Not all the FRU numbers are listed in the HMM. This holds true for most models, and quite a few parts - including motherboards - that get added or improved during the model's life cycle.

Good luck.

Cheers,

George
