Hello,
I have a T60P that had locked up when I was using it. I had restarted it by holding down the on/off switch. Now after I turn it on or off, The numlock and caplock lights light up along with the 'Circled Z'. Also depending on whether I'm running on battery or direct power, those lights will also light up. Then after I hear the hard drive do a little 1-2 second normal start up sound and the CD/DVD drive does it's normal 1-2 second sound. The only lights that are on are the "Circled Z' and the battery if running on battery. If running on power, the 'Circled Z' and the plugged in indicator light are the only lights on.
I never see anything on the screen and never hear any diagnostic beeps.
Any suggestions on what I should try or what the problem might be?
Thank you!
Bill D

Did you try to discharge your unit? This is a last ditch effort, but try doing this:
1) Remove the AC adapter and battery
2) Press the power button in and out 10 times
3) Now press and hold down the power button for 30 seconds
4) Plug in only the AC adapter.
5) Try to power on the unit
Hopefully the only problem you have is a power static buildup and doing this discharge will help you.
If not, you will need a systemboard as mentioned before.
Let me know if this helps you any.

Hey Mark, I gave the steps you listed a shot and still no good luck. Looks like it's going to be a new systemboard. What's that run ballpark?
Thank you,
Bill

Is it possible to pickup a refurbished T60p or T60 and just change out the harddrive and possibly add more memory from the dead machine to the refurbished machine?
Thank you,
Bill

Well I ordered a new T60p motherboard (TP60/P 42W2207) and replace the motherboard. Got everything back together and turned it on and STILL seeing the same issue I mentioned originally. Uggghhhh
Any other suggestions?
Thank you,
