Hi. My mainboard died (previously it was an intel board), and I got a replacement nvidia board (yes, I know about the problems with nvidia boards). However, I wasn't aware that the cooling unit was different, and since the change of the webpage, all I get when looking for hardware manuals, is "File not found".
So, I was hoping somebody could help me with a part-number for an nvidia heatsink for the 14.1" 4:3 ratio T61.
Not a widescreen, not a T61p.

If you're willing, I could use some photographs of your unit in various stages of disassembly, as well as photos of the two system boards.
Naturally I don't expect you to go through a lot of unnecessary work, but if it's not to much trouble, I'd like to have photos of the non-widescreen units for a guide I'm preparing. Photos that show screw locations are important, as well as the major components, and perhaps both the nvidia and intel heatsink.

I'm just a little bit unsure about this info - as I can read it, it says "all" on the 8895-units, but I'm unsure if this means all units regardless of motherboard, or just the units that came with the intel chipset. As I understand it, there's a difference between the different chipsets/heatsink-assemblies, while this seems to indicate there's not.
Would it be possible for you to send me the HMM that you have saved? You can email me directly at xxxxxxxxxxxxxx (no worries about the email, I don't really care if it's known or not ![]()

I'll see what I can manage. I can't promise anything, but I'll try to take some photos. How detailed do you want it? Personally, I usually just do the strip, replace/exchange, doesn't really pay much attention to details about screws etc, as they usually are interchangeable, or so different it's easy to remember. But if you want, I can make a more meticulous array of screws etc.

Just the location of the screws, not photos of the screws themselves. I can highlight the areas on the photos, but would like to have photos from every combination of systems and parts, so anything you can provide would be helpful.
Thanks

Whaa! Sorry, I misread your post, you need the number for the discrete graphics fan;
There are only two fans for that system, one each for integrated and discrete.
If I get time I'll upload the manual to somewhere and send you a PM with the link, probably this evening.

I'm trying to find out which fan part number is the correct one for my T61 laptop.
I have already removed the fan & heatsink, but was surprised to find that there was no label with a Lenovo/IBM FRU number. Because of that, I have no idea what part number is the one for a replacement fan. There is the number 7804A printed onto the fan case, but that number doesn't seem to be a Lenovo/IBM part number.
My machine is type 7664-16U, serial number L3B8682. It has the Nvidia Quadro NVS 140M graphics and the T7300 core duo 2.0 Ghz cpu.
I've looked through the hardware manual that you gave a link to, but I don't see any mention in that manual of my model 7664-16U. I only see what I believe to be other model numbers such as 8890-CTO, which I assume is just another model number similar to my 7664-16U model number. Info I could find on the Lenovo support site similarly never mentioned my 7664-16U model number in any fan parts lists, just model numbers mostly starting with 88 (8890, 8891,..., etc).
I did enter my machine type 7664-16U and its serial number when asked to do so by the Lenovo site, but still it did not point me to any unambiguous info that told me the correct part number for the fan I need.
Any help on this will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
