T61 Hangs upon Shut-Down/Hibernate/Standby

Hi, everyone!

 

 

 

Recently I've run an update on a T61 with XP SP3 32bit: Windows Update and ThinkVantage Update 3.14 (for the first time ever). Details below.

 

When the BIOS update initiated its' power-down, Windows has reached the blank desktop stage (where the cursor is no longer visible) and hanged for a long while - like 3 hours. I've reset it with a long press on the On/Off button.

 

Ever since, the same exact thing happens whenever I try to enter Standby / Hibernate / Shut-down or restart the system. I'm immobilized! :smileysurprised:
