Intermittently when I boot my T61 (646501U, XP SP3) I get "Your audio configuration has changed. You must re-install SoundMax" and sounds are disabled. I re-boot and sounds are enabled. What should I do to fix this?

This happens on my T61 as well. I reinstall the soundmax driver and sound comes back but it is very annoying. Does anyone have any idea what is disabling/removing the driver?

Same problem. Just started after replacing new HD and SP3 new install. I'm figuring my drivers are not setup the way they were originally or SP3, but I think I had SP3 for awhile on my old hard drive without this problem. My NIC won't load either when this problem occurs. My mouse and keyboard lock up also. I've had more weird problems with this laptop than any other computer I've owned. It makes it worse when they're sporadic.
It would be nice to hear an answer. Not holding my breath.
