T61 - No Wireless Icons Appear in CONTROL PANEL/NETWORK CONNECTIONS under XP

Question

I tried to wirelessly connect my T61 with a netgear router last night.  Could not do it.  Netgear had me go to:  CONTROL PANEL/NETWORK CONNECTIONS, and there were NO ICONS appearing in the big white box under NETWORK CONNECTIONS.

They then had me go to DEVICE MANAGER/NETWORK ADAPTERS, and I am able to see:  a) 1394 Network Adapter, b) Intel(R) 82566MM Gigabit Network Connection, c) Intel(R)( Wireless WiFiLink 4965 AGN.

So my computer does have these connections, BUT they do not appear in CONTROL PANEL/NETWORK CONNECTIONS, for some reason.
