when they claim liquid damage, they would usually provide photographic evidence to backup the claim, so you should ask for these photos by calling the warranty department.

I did , but they only sent me an email saying that there is foreign liquid found , and neglect to provide any other kind of evidence.

My 2008 T61 has been shutting down on me randomly for the past few months. Usually on sites with Flash like Youtube, I would have to shut it down, wait a bit, then it works fine. Didnt think anything of it until 2 days ago. Screen went garbled with blue lines. Shut it down, worked for a bit, garbled up again and I decided to call it quits so just shut it down. Next morning I turn it on, it works fine for 10 minutes, then garbles again. This time no luck, blue screen comes up with a "fatal memory error", after trying to reboot a couple of times I now get nothing on the screen.
I'm out of warranty but will call and see what happens.
For those of you that have had it repaird, how long did it take? I'm moving from my appartment (just graduated uni) back home next week. Trying to figure out if I should send the box home or not (if I don't have problems that is).

that depends on the parts availability, usually 5 days. Some people have got it within 2 days.

My sister also got the same problem, except her machine is still under warranty (3 year extended depot). She got a box to ship to Lenovo, and then they told her that there was a foreign liquid in the machine but they could replace the LCD. I told her to escalate since it is a GPU problem, not an LCD problem. The person that it was escalated to said that since there is a foreign liquid in the machine, they have invalidated the 3 year warranty and they will not fix the computer. Whaaa? Yes the machine is a little dirty on the keyboard and bezels, but I see no evidence of a foreign liquid.
PM to mark. Help please?

the depot should provide you with photographic evidence of the liquid damage. Did you get these photos?

Steveho,
Lead-org is correct. The depot should provide pictures of the foreign contamination, and if the board is clearly not affected, you can escalate the decision through the depot for Lenovo review.
I would recommend that. I did receive your PM, but think this is the appropriate course of action to use the normal processes. If you cannot receive assistance otherwise, I'll need your service case number and your contact information (if you are handling this for your sister) including name, address, and phone.
Thanks for sharing, and I hope we are able to work this out!
Best regards,
Mark
