Re: T61 and nVIDIA Quadro NVS 140M dead GPU?! Lenovo extend warrenty or no luck

There is no fix other than to get a new motherboard.

You can purchase the post warranty warranty (basic depot 1 year plan costs around 150 dollars), and use the warranty to get a replacement motherboard.

Thanks. Has anyone used this option successfully? The three year warranty expired a few months back so I can still get this basic depot warranty for $150?

Re: T61 with garbled display

My T61 is now down with this issue. 3 YR Warranty just expired few days ago. I would really appreciate any help in resolving this issue.

Thanks.

Re: T61 with garbled display

if it has expired few days ago, you can still purchase a in warranty extension, which is cheaper than the post warranty version.

Thanks. I may buy warranty extension, but in this case it turned out to be a driver issue. My T61 is working fine now after installing nvidia driver again. I will report back in few days again.

Thanks again for the help.

Re: T61 with garbled display

[ Edited ]

Hi, I know this thread is dead, but I need help. I just bought a T61-7663-WQW off Craigslist. The reason I bought an older laptop is because I am short on money (as in I have none, all is for college) and because Lenovo has a reputation for being a solid manufacturer. The laptop is fine and all, and I love it, but I am having the BSOD problem. This only happens when I play a game called Quake Live. I have uninstalled the Quake Lice plugin and reinstalled, and updated the Nvidia drivers even tried older ones. I even tried an nv4_disp fix for the infinite loop, but that didn't work either. When the laptop crashes my FPS on Quake Live (frames per second) will drop from 125 to 50ish and then flicker and freeze, until the BSOD shows up. It is very frustrating and from what I've read the call back time frame is over. Even if it were still available, I'm rather sure I can't apply for any sort of help because I got this off Craigslist. Is there anyway I can resolve this? Like I said, I have no money whatsoever, and really need a laptop, so if there is any solution that is easy on the wallet, please let me know

Re: T61 with garbled display

as said you can purchase a post warranty depot 1 year package for around 140 dollars. That is going to be cheapest way of fixing this problem.
