I try to upgrade my T61 harddisk to 320G WDC WD3200BEVT.
This drive was used in my Acer PC. Using the Intel Storage manager, I confirm it is working as SATA II drive (generation 2).
However, when I install this drive to my T61. It only display as generation 1.

welcome to the forum!
the T61 supports SATA II but is limited to 1.5 Gb/sec interface speed.

Thank you for your quick reply. I though this is a 965 chipset PC and should support 3.0GB?
Could this be the reason that Intel Storage manager reporting the drive as generation 1?

Why it is limited to 150 GB/sec interface speed ?
I thought "ICH8M-Enhanced I/O Controller Hub" should make this work.
So basically SATA II will not function as it should be in T61, right?

So it must be some control via BIOS?
I check from WD website. In fact the 250G (SATA1) and 320G(SATA2) has the same power rating.
Unless the Intel chipset takes more power when SATA2 is enabled.

WOW, I'd like to see that!
That should read 1.5Gbps... which is much faster than any single mechanical drive to date can achieve.
Cheers,
