T61 / Tolerance of lid

The lid of my T61 has about 1 inch tolerance when moving before I can feel a resistance and actually are changing the angle of the lid. This gives it a cheap impression.

I am wondering if other owners share the same issue.

Yes, Many T60 and T61's had "slack" in the hinges. If it is under warranty they will fix it.

My T60 does it too. It doesn't bother me enough to send it in just for that. I'll wait until something more important needs fixed too.

I have a T61P 15.4" with the loose hinge. I got it replaced yesterday.

The technician claimed that this is a new and updated part. Let's cross finger that it would last longer than the last one

Hi... i have Lenovo T61 14.1 standard lcd... i have to buy the hinges i check the lenovo HMM it shows that both the hinges has a steel rod. but in my laptop left side hing is bigger then right side hinge and left hinge has a steel rod and right side hinge has no rod. tell me where can i get it i need the part number to order it .plzzzzzzz guide me....

In order to ensure members offer you the correct part numbers it would be helpful if you could post exactly which T61 you have, please post the Type and Model Number this will help members to help you.

Alternatively, choose the Hardware Maintainance Manual for your T61, in it you'll find the FRU part numbers you are looking for.

I have checked the HMM but the hinge of T61 standard 14.1 did not match with it....Machine Type.... 8898-55G

the hinge of my T61p is loose and broken finally, I can no longer close the lid.

because the warranty is expired, I want to fix it myself.

I looked at the ThinkPad® T61 and T61p (14.1-inch) Hardware Maintenance Manual,

found the part numbers for the hinge of my  laptop are 42W3653(Hinges, Kato) and

42W3654(Hinges, Reel). But they seemd are not in stock anymore.

I read some posts regarding t61 hinge problems in this forum.

From one post (http://forum.lenovo.com/t5/T61-and-prior-T-series-ThinkPad/T61-Tolerance-of-lid/m-p/77767#M25073)  I know Lenovo has some new hinges for old models. but I could only find

the part number for  wide screen model:

If there is anyone who knows the new part number for the hinge of 14.1 standard T61p,

could you please reply me and give me some help?

The LCD hinge of my T61 was broken one month ago and I ordered the hinge assembly 42W3653 and 42W3654.Each part has a pair of them, but I only used one. If you are interested in the them, please drop me an email daizthu@gmail.com.
