T61, with XP Pro - Why did Lenovo upgrade my IE to IE7?

[ Edited ]

I had ordered Windows XP Pro on my T61. However, my Internet Explorer had been factory upgraded to IE7. For work, I use a website that has not adopted some of the IE7 changes. As such, I cannot view this website, nor will it function properly. Is there a way to downgrade back to IE6?

Thanks for any feedback!

PS:

While my Internet Explorer had been upgraded, my Outlook Express had not been upgraded to Windows Mail. Not that it matters much.

MacBook Pro, with an aluminum unibody enclosure **As of September 15, 2008, our company has completely switched to Apple. Having used ThinkPad products for over 10 years, we had desperately tried to find just one reason to continue using these products, to no avail. We are of the view that ThinkPads are no longer premium products. We wish you the best of luck with your ThinkPad! Happy computing…**

What makes this even stranger is that my X300, a newer model than my T61, had come with Windows XP Pro and IE6.

Hello,

Have you tried uninstalling Internet Explorer 7 through the Add and Remove Programs applet in the Control Panel?

Thank you. I appreciate your time.

I am aware of that. However, my concern is then being able to install IE6, which is not available anywhere.

As far as I know IE6 will be there after IE7 is uninstalled.
