T61P doesn't dock unless battery temporarily removed

About once a week when I get to work, I have to remove the battery and put it back before the thinkpad sees the dock and will turn on.

I am running WinXp and do a shutdown between home and the office. Placing the thinkpad in the dock, it doesn't show the lights saying it sees any power and pushing the power on on the dock does nothing. I have external keyboard, mouse and monitor so I run in the dock with the lid closed.

So it seems something is getting reset when I pop the battery for a second and then the re-dock. Have others seen this and have any clues on why or how to fix it??

Have this problem been occuring since you first received the brand new laptop??? or have this problem started to occur after you have used your laptop and installed some software on it.... because i had similar problems with my X series laptop, but i later found out it was some software that i installed on the winxp, which caused the problem..... have you updated you BIOs??

Re: T61P doesn't dock unless battery temporarily removed

I seem to recall it happening back to almost day one. Well, at least within the range of how often it happens.

Other odd things include:
  1. On laptop screen, screen saver/monitor timeout almost never happens. But screen saver works fine when running external monitors
  2. Graphics seem to have overlay problems where as example a pull down menu will disapear except for the item you are pointing at. But as you move the mouse those items appear and stay on the screen.

As far as I can tell, it thinks it is current on all the software and bios options.
