Hi ![]()
I have a T61p 646067F, originally 2 GB (now 3GB with Win 7 32bit), 2.2 Ghz (T7500), 15.4 inch 1920 X 1200 Nvidia Quadro 570m 256mb.
I am looking for an upgrade for my memory (most likely 2X4GB - using Windows 7 x64) and a new processor. I know I can easily upgrade the processor with the 7700 (2.4 Ghz). Is there any other option I can go with for my CPU upgrade? Can I use the T9xxx series?

Your processor upgrade question depends on the system board installed in your system. If your board has Penryn support, then you can use a T8xxx/T9xxx processor with the same socket and fsb speed. If your board doesn't, then you'll get a thermal error on boot. This error can be surpressed with a modified bios.
If you get me your board FRU number, I can tell you which you have. The number will be either under the battery, or under the ram. You can also get it from looking up your serial number in on lenovo website. Don't post your serial number here, but if you want help looking it up you can send it to me privately.
Also, if your date code is from 2007, then you cannot have penryn support, if it's a 2008 date, then you could have either board. Your system does have a Merom cpu, but when the merom boards were exhausted, they begun using the better penryn boards in manufacturing, so you may have one.

That board supports Merom CPU, you can upgrade to T7700 or T7800. A Penryn cpu would require a modified bios.
