T61p and X61s hangs when you select Start/Shutdown in XPSP2

Hi All,

I have two different systems (T61p 7661-12U and X61 7667-34U) with a similar issue. When the user goes to shutdown by selecting Start/Shutdown, the system will hang sometimes anywhere from 3-20 minutes before the Shut Down Windows dialog appears. I have tried EVERYTHING I can think of to resolve this issue. Removed every non esential driver, service and process from startup using MS Config. Swapped HD to another chassis on the T61 and it still happens so must be software related. Every time we think it is fixed, it happens again when the client gets it back.

Anyone ever seen this before?

Thanks,

Re: T61p and X61s hangs when you select Start/Shutdown in XPSP2

I am having this same issue. using T61 Windows Vista, SP1. Except for the full MS Vista SP2 patch (waiting on TVSU compatibility), I have all windows patches and Lenovo patches installed.

I've also tried everything I can think of, including looking in the vista Event Viewer, application logs, and selectively stopping different services and applications.  I was at first suspicious it had something to do with Sleep or Hibernation (only hangs when shutdown following a Sleep > Wake or Hibernation > Wake cycle), but not so sure now.

Any ideas appreciated!
