If you create an image using R&R it will reinstall the new drive with the exception of the service partition. If you wish to keep the service partition you can use recovery disks first and then cleverly restore your R&R image.
It is quicker and a lot easier to clone the drive using Acronis, seems to be the preferred cloning software for TPs, which will also clone the service partition. If you choose this route make sure that the target drive in inserted as primary in your T61. There is tons of information regarding this in this forum and others.
