Re: Upgrading to SSD (T43)

Ultrabay hard drive carrier takes the place of your current media drive.

And yes, you can boot from a hard drive or SSD installed in it.

Cheers,

George

Re: Upgrading to SSD (T43)

hello andkar4.  hope you are still reading these boards.

question for you, or anyone else who sees this note.

when you installed the Kingspec SSD into your T43, did the BIOS display an "Error 2010" warning during boot.

or, did you by any chance update the BIOS (i understand there is unofficial modified BIOS that eliminates the error message, did you use that one?)

thanks in advance.

Re: Upgrading to SSD (T43)

I successfully upgraded with a Samsung SSD originally from a Lenovo X201 (SATA) in a Shapeways carrier and Microsata converter board.  However, I do get the beep and error message at POST. Have you found the fix for this (BIOS mod or otherwise) that you asked about here?

Welcome to the forum!

Three solutions exist regarding T43 and SSD:

a) Obtain a PATA SSD. These are pretty rare and quite expensive.

b) Get a SATA SSD and run it from UltraBay using the UltraBay hard drive adapter.

c) Modify the motherboard to natively accept a SATA drive.

I currently have options b and c working in my household, and am a very happy camper. YMMV.

Hello , can you give a link for the c) solution who explain how to do it.
