welcome to the communnity.
so that we're on the same page, are you looking at the t40 driver matrix here:
http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/detail.page?Legacy
also, please post your t40's machine-type (7 characters) from the sticker on the bottom of your machine. please *do not* post your serial number.
cheers.

hi.
yes, that's a machine-type #, which comes back as a t60. please confirm.
thanks.

hehe...
is it marked "T60" just inside the right hinge on the lower lcd bezel?
if it really is a t60 and not some kind of "frankenpad", we'll be working off of this driver matrix:
http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/detail.page?Legacy
looking at an old tawbook, the 1951-C2U is listed as having an Intel PRO/Wireless 3945ABG card inside, so you'll want to try the driver here: http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/downloads/detail.p
there's a readme file at this link, also. please download it and look it over. if you have questions about how to install the driver, please post back.
if you get installed ok and everything's working for you, please post back also.
cheers.

you're quite welcome. glad i could get you going.
bookmark the driver matrix for future reference, if you haven't already. you also might consider installing thinkvantage system update to help you keep current with hardware drivers. generally it works pretty well, but can lag behind the matrix for the most current updates. it can be found in the matrix along with its readme. any ?s, just holler.
cheers.
