so that does mean that the lenovo tech support is worthless and not capable of answering a simple query how to update wireless drivers. If anyone read this post, how will they trust lenovo support and why will they buy lenovo products. Dont any of the lenovo tech support guys feel guilty about this !!!! Atleast try to contact the tech team or the application driver support team. Hope someone has some answer for the upgrade of drivers.
I don't mean to be rude, but you do understand this is "community based support" don't you??? The person your ranting about doesn't work for Lenovo, if you want to speak to Lenovo support, call them!!!
As a member of the community, I'm willing to help you fix any problem you may be having, but I haven't seen you post about any problems, only that you don't like a number that windows displays. I honestly can't tell you what driver you have installed and if windows is displaying the proper one, or if you installed the latest or what, but I keep asking myself why someone would be so worried about fixing a problem that doesn't exist. If there is some new feature that is introduced, or some bug fix in a new driver, then I can see going through all this trouble, but I'm not (personally) inclined to do a lot of installing and testing to sort this out for absolutely no reason at all. If you have a valid reason, then please enlighten us, if you just want a higher number, then good luck, maybe someone else will be willing to help, or maybe you can get lenovo to help.
Either way there is no point in blaming Lenovo tech support, nor is there any point in blaming a VOLUNTEER who has tried to help you.
Good luck in your quest

Community support is often the most efficient way to get help. Some people aren't concerned with what they get for something, thinkpad users have been helping each other for as long as there have been thinkpads. No one here is paid, it's all volunteers donating time. There are a few lenovo employees in charge, but there are no support peope to reply to problems, that is what the regular channels are for.
As far as updating to the latest versions of software and/or drivers, if you always do this I gaurentee you you're going to have troubles. New often means buggy, not bugless. If something works, I'm not going to replace it with a new version that may or may not work as well. If an update is released, I read what was changed and see if that's an interest to me. You may find the update is to make it work with some old HP or dell system that doesn't apply to you, so in that case lenovo will never issue that update. You may find an update only applys to R series thinkpads, so lenovo will issue the update, but no point in installing it if you have a T series.
When it comes to bios updates, each time you update you risk destroying your system board, so it would be foolish to update a bios without a darn good reason to do it. Driver updates won't destroy your computer, but they can make it not work if the drivers are buggy, so always remember that newer isn't always better.

The latest driver applicable to your wireless card:
http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/downloads/detail.p
Lenovo has it as 14.03.0000 and it was released on March 13th. That's as good as it gets for official drivers.

You might be into something here.
I just installed the linked 14.etc driver, went through the whole thing and the Device Manager is still showing the previous one...
Honestly, I'm out of ideas.
