Recently my laptop was stolen, and i did not write down the serial number.
I still have the ziplog baggie with all the warranty information and what not. Is the serial number on that bag, or inside the bag anywhere?
Are there any other ways of recovering my serial number?

Often the invoice will show the serial number. I don't know about Newegg's but Lenovo's certainly do.
BTW the model number looks like 9999-xxx, e.g. 200793U or 2007-93U and the serial number is seven numbers/characters, e.g. L2KW591.

Sorry to hear about your experience. Once you find out the serial number, please post it here.
Also, does anyone know if there any databases of stolen Lenovo laptop serial numbers available anywhere? I buy used Lenovos and call Lenovo to confirm warranty and confirm that they're not stolen, but I can't imagine that Lenovo's database is comprehensive with regard to stolen laptop information. Are there any other records - police, insurance, etc. that can be checked?

A central database would be a very good idea but it shoud be global -- here in Europe items like cars and computers are typically stolen in one country and resold in another country.
Of course best is to always use a master password in Bios -- then the the thinkpad can't be used without replacing the mobo.
