Hello, I am trying to do a clean reinstall of windows xp pro to my 2 year old t61. It has been at the same point for over 3 hours now. The screen says "system restore at 28 % " and it says estimated time remaining is 528 minutes. A couple of hours ago it said 200 or so minutes at the same percentage. I have read not to power off in the middle of this. Is my computer froze? Any help would be appreciated much!!!

Thanks for the reply. I am only trying to clean my hard drive of the bloat and start over. Hard drive was working fine. Since this post I have found out I do not have the option in Think Vantage for a factory reset. I believe it is trying to restore from the points set. Last night it finally went to 100 percent after I did a hard restart and started the process over choosing a different restore point. Now though it is giving me an error message saying windows cannot open due to a missing or corrupted file. Is there a way to reboot from the recovery discs without going through the ThinkVantage partition? Thanks for any help you can give.

Hi jhartmo and welcome to the forum!
If you have recovery discs, then they do the exact same thing as the factory restore option in the recovery partition. All data on the drive will be deleted after restore to factory settings, be wary of this.
Hope this helps.
