Configuring Skype to work with Thinkpad Edge --- Thinkpad General

Question

 My Edge has just the  one  port for headphones - my headphones have two jacks, one for sound, the other for the microphone. Consequently, they don't work with the laptop.

When I try to use Skype anyway, I can hear who I'm trying to converse with, but they can barely hear me. The inbuilt microphone seems to barely register my voice so it's an impossibility. 

Any thoughts, suggestions or experiences that might help?

Answer

Run SmartAudio, and go to the microphone tab. Choose the other option (between VoIP and voice recording).That might help
