Adding a third party Solid State Drive

Hi,

I know that it is possible to replace my HDD with a LEnovo branded SSD but can I use a generic Crucial SSD? I only ask because I'm not sure if Lenovo use any sort of proprietory connection or if it's just a standard SATA connection?

I wish thinking of purchasing the above from Crucial, which, according to Crucial themselves, is Compatible (http://www.crucial.com/uk/store/listparts.aspx?model=ThinkPad%20Edge-15inch%20%28Intel%20DDR3%29&pt=...) with the ThinkPad Edge 15 Intel Edition.

What do you guys think? As far as I can tell it should work.

Not sure if I'd need to replace my existing drive though, or if I can just use the SSD as an aditional drive (ideally I'd like to use it as an additional drive and re-install the operating system onto thr SSD and use my current SATA drive as storage and the likes)

I'd appreciate any input!

Hi,
Lenovo Notebooks are using standard connectors for hdd. there should be no physical connection problem.
As far as I know ssds are presented as standard drives to the bios, so I do not expect any problem here.
But I never had a ssd in my notebooks!!!
