Can I use BIOS from any region?

I bought a Edge e520 yesterday in Japan. I expected the bios language to be Japanese but it's in English, which is what I want.

I want to update the bios but I'm afraid the one from Japan Lenovo's site will change the language to Japanese. Can I use the one from the US site instead?

yes you can. It's actually probably the same BIOS, I'm not aware that Lenovo releases BIOSes in different languages.

If you must update the BIOS I strongly recommend downloading the iso disc image, burning the image to an cd and then booting from it to carry out the update.

I noticed that although I didn't have the latest bios, I already had the bios fix that I wanted. So I didn't do an udate.

You're probably right about all bioses being the same. I found a few pics of the bios on Japanese Thinkpads and they were all in English.
