E320 Card Reader Read Only

Hi all,

My first post to the forums so please be nice :smileyhappy:

I recently got a ThinkPad Edge e320 (12985mg) and a brand new SD HC 32GB card to use but every time it is inserted, it displays in disk management as read only so I cannot write any data to it.

This same SD HC card works find in all the other PCs in my office (random makes and models + another E320) and a standard 2GB SD card works fine in the reader slot.

This annoyed me so much I reinstalled from the recovery disks (Windows 7 pro 64bit) and fully updated everything and still the same problem. Also happens with a Linux LiveCD.

Any suggestions or does it look like a hardware problem that I can send back under warranty?

Re: E320 Card Reader Read Only

Hi lewishanger and welcome to the community,

You could go into device manager and check the version of the driver and compare it to the version that's in the E320 at work that does work.

Here is a thread where the reader wouldn't read the card at all and there's a link to a driver that's supposed to work for 16GB cards.

See if any of this works for you.

Dave

Re: E320 Card Reader Read Only

Hi Dave,

Thanks for the reply and sorry for the delay in my update.

I have already seen that thread and tried the download but still no joy.
My other college with the working e320 hasn’t been around so haven’t compared driver version yet.

I am just surprised that the restore disks don’t fix it
