E420s / E420 / E520 - Unable to change brightness after upgrading video driver to 8.840.7.3000

I have the same problem here with an E420. I think I've got the latest bios update (from 22 nov) and the latest video driver, but when I switch to my dedicated video card, I cannot change brightness. Otherwise, it works fine with intel hd. Have any other updates come up yet?

It's rather paradoxical if you compare these driver problems with linux from the end user's perspective. I really had more headaches trying to solve all sorts of driver problem with switchable graphics, screen brightness, touchpad and so on than in KDE4, which is much less attentively done than windows 7.

I have E420, but I upgraded to latest BIOS, no change in this matter.

Engineering revert the following.

Tested on 1143-3MG with HD6630M. Driver version 8.811.1.5000
F7 and F8 function are correct, change of brightness isn displayed graphically on the screen.
BIOS version: 8HET30WW (1.12)
Hot key version: 3.70.0003

Updated VGA driver to 8.840.7.3000
F7 and F8 function are correct, change of brightness isn displayed graphically on the screen.
Customer should try to reinstall Hotkey version 3.70.0003 and check all four packages.

I'm not sure what should I do regarding what JameZ said. On our notebooks brightness control doesn't work at all by F7 anf F8 keys. What's the Hotkey exactly ??

Installed, but unfortunately still doesn't work on dedicated graphics...

Tested on NZ346RT with Intel HD Graphics 3000. Driver version 8.15.10.2559
F7 and F8 function are NOT correct, pressing this keys cause display graphically on the screen, but nothing else happend.

Brightness does not changed.

BIOS version: 1.22 (8HET40WW) / 1.09 (8IET36WW)
Hot key version: 3.70.0003

Do you set it to dedicated GPU only in BIOS? Appreciate if you can explain how do I set it to dedicated GPU only as I do not have the newer generation of EDGE systems.
