Hi there,
this is my first post in this board, nice to meet you all! ![]()
I bought almost 1 month ago my EDGE E420s and in a short time (before I install a lot of stuff) , I got some unbelievable freezes.
I just have my Raze mouse plugged in. I tried to update bios... It's not a temperature issue... All windows patches are updated and Lenovo software too...
I'm not talking about hard duty, during heavy conversion or something similar but... Sometimes doing absolutely nothing.
It just freezes. During the reboot Windows go smooth and don't show me any boot options, this means the problem is not at Windows level, but higher.
I'm reading about other lenovo models having similar troubles and I red Lenovo is going to switch motherboard in those laptops, we'll see then.
Anyway I bough another 4 GB RAM more (but It's not a RAM issue for sure) , I'll give to support when I'll ship them my laptop for installing it onto because open this laptop is a quest!
Anyone got same problems?
Let me know, bye! ![]()

Hi
I just got my E420s a week ago and really like it. But there is a problem. It has happened a few times.
Mostly whe I am working with Microsoft Office, suddenly the mouse freezes and nothing else works. No keyboard access, nothing works. I have to reboot the system everytime to go back to normal. The screen remains on but the whole system hangs.
Can somebody please help me? What should I do? Is this a serious problem? Any advice is helpful
Cheers
Pouya

I wonder if this problem is related to the problem with the edge ultranav touchpads not working.
The "fix" suggested by tech support was to run in safe mode (press F8 on startup.)
What I have noticed is that the problem increases when some background process is running - for example the touchpad will become non-responsive and a few minutes later I will see a notice that an update is ready to be installed or that the Lenovo system check just performed it's system check.

All in my trackpads work fine, until the REAL freeze... it's not connected to this problem I think.
