E430 do CUDA

[ Edited ]

Hi all,

I am (hopefully) looking forward to buy this laptop, however can someone confirm is it possible to play with NVIDIA CUDA 4 (I mean to install and use CUDA Toolkit 4.0 and SDK) in current form (with GeForce GT 630M) ? I read in some earlier topic that it is possible to choose in BIOS from integrated graphics e.g. Intel HD 4000 and switchable, which is handled by NVIDIA Optimus, so there is no explicite discrete graphics selection, also someone complained that latest NVIDIA drivers are not working. By the way I will be happy to know what actually is this GT 630M. Is it Kepler 40 nm or 28 nm, DDR3 or GDDR5 memory ?

Thanks in advance

Re: E430 do CUDA

The E430 only has the integrated Intel graphics card.

Re: E430 do CUDA

Thank you for your answer Ron. Are you sure on this ? I found http://shopap.lenovo.com/au/en/products/laptops/thinkpad/thinkpad-edge/e430/index.html that "do list" contains "Faster NVIDIA® Optimus™ discrete graphics" and it's possible to configure this laptop with "NVIDIA GeForce GT 630M Graphics with 2GB" as I see. I agree that it's not accessible in every posisible place (e.g. United States Lenovo website), but I am pretty sure that there is (or at least there was) such option.

You're correct.  I was only looking on the US website.
