Hello,
I was wondering if it is possible to update the BIOS on the E520 from 1.17 to 1.23 using linux?

Hello and welcome,
I don't think you can update BIOS directly in Linux, but there's a bootable CD BIOS update in the E520 downloads.
BIOS Update Bootable CD (It's an ISO. Burn it as an image, not a data file.)

could you tell me if you had succeeded or not? I want to virtualize Mac os but it seems the bios had some bug.

Have you tried UNetbootin to write the diskimage onto the USB?
