Hotkeys no longer working - ThinkPad Edge 14, Windows 7

Hello,


my hotkeys to control volume, brightness, wifi, microphone, webcam no longer working. Some hotkeys (previous track, play/pause and next track) still works fine. I had this problem two times before and in this cases bios update helped. But now, i have newest BIOS version and i can't update BIOS...Simple restore BIOS properities to default didn't work...I have exactly the same problem on Windows 7 Professional 64bit and Ubuntu Linux 10.10 32bit. Any ideas how to fix this or i must use my warranty?

I'll be very grateful for any advice!

And i forgot...No hibernation when i close my thinkpad. Also on both systems...

You can try reinstalling the hotkey drivers.

f1 at startup, into the bios.  config should be highlighted, enter.  power, enter.   make sure hibernate by timer is enabled. f10 to save and exit. yes, boot to windows.

I have the same issue. Did you solve it?

I just got off the phone with lenovo.  They said there have been several reports of this problem but they have no solution.  It definitely is a bios problem.

It looks like i have same problem on my Edge 13.

Hi, sadly there's nothing new. I was three times at service for repair. They exchanged me motherboard and keyboard. Hotkeys worked good for couple weeks and then problem showed up again...it's definitely bios case. Tomorrow i'll go to the shop and i'll want my money back. Six months of suffering with this annoying issue...

I installed older version of BIOS ROM (one version lower than current) and it's working for me, special keys started to work again as well as suspend on lid closing.
