How to stop machine to wake on lan while beeing turned off?

I`ve got an Edge 15" Corei5 with Win7 and a problem with the working Wake on LAN setup.

The Edge wakes up from any state it`s in. Turned off, sleep, hibernation. My question is how to disable wake up from turned-off-state. 

It would be nice when waking up would only be enabled when the machine is is sleep or hibernation mode. 

Where can I switch this behaviour?

You can change this settings in BIOS to disable Wake On LAN.

Unfortunately I cannot find that switch. Could you tell me where exactly in BIOS?

Hi nicbeu,

I am unable to provide you with the specific area on where to turn it off in BIOS as I am currently working. However there is another way which you can do this, check below.

Click Start --> Click Run --> type "devmgmt.msc" --> LAN Card (Intel Gigabit Network Connection) --> Power Management Tab --> Uncheck --> Allow this device to bring the computer out of standby.

Do try if it helps. If it doesn't do let me know and I will boot into my BIOS and check it for you

I will try your proposal in two days when i`m back in front of that laptop. For a plan b it might be helpful to know the BIOS settings...

Hello JameZ, right now i`m sitting right in front of that Lenovo Edge and tested your proposal. Unfortunately the laptop didn`t wake up from any state when I set it up the way you told me:-( Again I`ve checked the BIOS settings and cannot find anything useful to disable wake up from "power off" state. OK. I switched the BIOS settings to the default, disabled WoL in Devicemanager for the LAN Card (Realtek...) and turned it off. Sending the magic packet to it wakes it up again! The settings in device manager had changed!

Same situation as before...:-(

Have checked my own BIOS.

In BIOS

Config --> Network --> Wake on LAN --> Disable

Another one check and see if it is disabled.

Config --> Power --> Timer Wake With Battery Operation --> Disable

Do check and see if it helps.

Config --> Power --> Timer Wake With Battery Operation --> Disable that is set.

Sorry i have to leave this place and laptop now and can`t test anymore. On Saturday I`m here again.
