I put corsair vengeance in my e420 (CMSX4GX3M1A1600C9). Which is 1600mhz, even though I have an i3. Works fine.
Any ram you get you just plug it in the back, there's not really a installation process.

Thanks, newuser,
Yes, I'm very happy this is an easy laptop to change memory on - and even happier I won't have to take it halfway apart (like my husband's Dell where I had to remove the battery, hard drive and keyboard - ugh!). He's not saying much, but I can tell that he's salivating over my new Thinkpad. Last night, he told he needs a new laptop... (I concur! But he's not getting mine!
)
I ordered some Samsung memory. Now to be patient until it's delivered... I'm still busy playing setting up programs, preferences, peripherals, etc., though, so staying happily occupied! ![]()
