Noob...: Optiarc CD/DVD reader on E520

Hi everybody !

on my new E520 (on which I have recently reinstalled Win 7 Pro) I can't use my dvd reader, it doesn't show up anywhere.

In the Control Panel I found that indeed there's a problem with the device:

Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged (Code 19)

The device is a Optiarc DVD RW AD-7740H ATA

I tried updating the driver but ...no success...

Can you help ?

Please try to boot a disc to isolate hardware/software issue. For more information, please kindly contact local lenovo for further assistance.

It must be a software issue.

The reader is correctly recognized by Ubuntu !

Upon grading to the Win7 pro, did you use an Orignal Cd or a downloaded Image. Its uncertain to why its it not reading the drive after the installation. You did mention in your post it appears to be working when u ran UBUNTU. I agree that does eliminate that it is a Hardware issue.

It this Regards You may want to try updating your BIOS. Currently there is a new BIOS available that was released earlier this year. You download the new BIOS from the link below.

Just want to check if you tried updating the bios of your machine? Did you see any changes. Do post your updates.
