Ram upgrade help e420 [ Edited ]

I don't understand all the specifications associated with ram. Can someone tell me if this works? I insist on buying from amazon.

My Windows Performance Index for Memory is now 7.4 

Go to Crucial.com to get great information on RAM for your system. You can then buy from Amazon with better understanding.of what's best for you.

Are you saying lenovo filled both slots with 2gb ram? So if i want to upgrade i'm basically wasting 2 gb? What the hell

Crucial.com has a tool that will detect the ram you have installed on your TP. If it is 2 x 2GB, then you can just decide to buy 1 -4GB for 6GB total and keep the waste to a minimum. You can also try to sell your left over ram. All I can tell you is that I am very happy with my 8GB. I am keeping the extra 2 x 2GB as spares.

Thanks for your help, fortunately the crucial scanner told me I have one available slot and a 4gb.
