Hello All
,
I have bought a lenovo thinkpad edge 11"6 with the amd single core.
I have troubles to use it: it freeze sometimes for a few seconds to minutes.
To fix it i have to close the laptop and it is fine or if I'm in best performance with lenovo tool, I have to restart it by pressing the power button.
I have done this morning the HDD check with lenovo tool on bios and : Result: Pass Read verification and speed test
I have looked for fix in this forum but nothing.
It deals with networking drivers issue or power management tool from lenovo.
I don't want to waste too much time...
Somebody have really fixed this issue or the brand new computer is going to the trash ?
I have already all update from Microsoft done (win7 x64 pro)
I will personally try this evening:
-PC doctor
-update lenovo tool
-uninstalltion lenovo tool
-update drivers
-update bios
thanks for feedback about this
it drives me crazy ![]()
regards
Samuel

Hi and welcome to the forum!
You should do all critical and recommended updates from lenovo via ThinkPad System Update as well.
For BIOS update, I recommend using bootable CD version.
Maliha (I don't work for lenovo)
ThinkPads:- T400[Win 7], T60[Win 7], IBM 240[Win XP]
IdeaPad: U350
Apple:- Macbook Air [Snow Leopard]07-06-2011 04:30 AM

I've to flash the bios then I have done all the update.
However It freeze 5sec when i'm surfing with google Chrome.
I saw that the CPU go quickly to 100%.
I know it is a small one but 0-100% with a single core @1,8Ghz, is it normal ?
I will bench some lenovo tool if something exist for CPU testing and may be some other tool like cpu mark and co.
Now I am not convinced for the moment that is only software issue, i found it amazing...
When i have old computer, my keyboard and mouse always answer but slowly...
Thanks for helping ![]()

Hi there,
I have the exact same issue. I had a Asus EEE PC with even slower CPU before (same OS = Win 7, same applications) but never experienced this with the Asus!
However, with the Lenovo Thinkpad Edge 11 it is quite frequent AND annoying!
The system freezes for a couple of seconds to minutes (as discribed before). Not even the mouse would move.
My system usually reovers by itself (if I am patient enough and "don't pull the plug").
Also, using Chrom and Firefox I experience the system to be sometimes really sluggish! Checking the performance monitor, I seed the PC doctor application as part of the Lenovo tool kit hugging a hugh amount of resources.
The same i actually experience when bringing back the notebook from sleep or hybernate. For the next 2 three minutes (after looging back in!), it sometimes renders the computer useless. I have started to walk away and do other things when bringing back the laptop from suspend / hybernate.
My assumption is that all (and I really mean all) applicaitons trying to check for latest updates at the same time ... the ESAT virus protection is definatelly doing so .... does anyone KNOW (not guess) how to allocate fewer resources to ideally ALL these background applications .... I don't mind if the virus scan / pc doctor / windows update / tool box etc., etc. take a day for catching up with current versions rather than doing so in the first 5 minutes of turning the machine on! Because, typically when you turn on the machine, you would like to work with it .... ;-)
Many thanks if anywone has feedback or pointers for me! Again, as I said, I did NOT have these issues with the slower ASUS ...
Cheers,
Robert
