ThinkPad Edge battery query

I have a ThinkPad Edge 15 laptop which is 6 months old. Its use is quite extensive kept over an almost permanent place. So, my query is that can i remove the battery & run over the direct AC supply in order to save the battery life as if i use the battery then it needs to be charged a number of times during the day. Is it harmful for the laptop to run on AC supply???

you can run the laptop without the battery inserted, provided that you have the 90 watts adapter. If you have the 65 watts adapter, then the CPU will throttle backup without the battery inserted.

ThinkPad have management system which you can setup to prevent top up charging from happening thus ruining the battery chemistry.

However, you should note that the battery can act as UPS system, in case there is brownout or blackout, or accidental unplugging of the power adapter.
