e520 no audio device installed for mic/recording

my mic is not working (i have never wanted to use it until now).

'no audio devices are installed' in the recording tab of sound. i right click to show disconnected or disabled but nothing shows. i have windows 7, 32 bit.

when i uninstall the audio drivers and reboot, it always reloads the conexant drivers and im back where i started.

how do i get windows to stop installing the same drivers and let it install the generic windows drivers?

i have the latest drivers from lenovo.

Re: e520 no audio device installed for mic/recording

fixed it. the mic  was disabled in the bios but also, if you enable it and save it still will not work.

to the right in the bios it tells you to remove ac power and shutdown (instead of restart) to enable the internal microphone.  started up again. it now works.

how did you find those instructions in the bios?
