Hi and welcome to the forum!

You need 64-bit OS to utilize 4GB RAM, XP wouldn't recognize more than 3GB.

Hope this helps.

Re: edge 11 memory upgrade under xp problem

You can consider some RAMDISK software that exposes the additional space as a drive to put your page file on.

AFAIK, all of them are paid solutions, though.

Hi,

sorry for waking up this thread again, but are you suggesting that you installed 2x2GB PC3-10600 memory in your Edge.

Even though BIOS reports 4GB, the OS only can *use* 2GB (1.75GB) in the first slot? If this is the case, you are not alone, and it has, of course, nothing to do with 32 bits at all.

Could you please check my posts in http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-Edge/Edge-11-memory-upgrade-failure-2GB-PC3-10600-DDR3-1333-mem...
