wifi link 1000 bgn will not connect at n speed

Do you know how to fix this problem with my new lenovo laptop E520?

 

intel r wifi link 1000 bgn will only connect at g speed - have n-router w/updated firmware - updated adapter driver on laptop  - all other computers at home connect at 300 - my lenovo connects at 54 and router shows it as a g connection not n - can't set it's connection to a "n" speed
