Here are two things that may require consideration;

You can also look here for more options but be careful, some places may be in China

Ameridian, thanks for your help!
I have some questions for your points:
1- I dont know if my model 1838 5RZ has the antennas, how can I know that without opne it?
2- Are you sure that model of gobi 3000 is compatible with my tablet? Lenovo told me that the mobile broadband that is compatible with my tablet is the GOBI 3000 part number 60Y3291.
Thanks!!

You'll have to open it to check. You also have to open it to install the WWAN card.

No, not sure, confirm with Lenovo. The ones here (used and refurbished) are made by Sierra and the model is MC8355 just like the GOBI 3000 but they look like older revisions;

Nobody in Lenovo can tell me if the GOBI 3000 :
is the same as this one:
That I know that the second has the part number I am looking for, 60Y3291, that says in the manual:
http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/product-and-parts/
What do you think?

i believe that is the same model. Our lenovo X220's that have the same exact Gobi 3000 card are referenced in Device Manager as the MC8355 based sierra wireless card and i've used this card in my work TPT for mobile data. ![]()

One of the Lenovo reps here can clear this up in no time. Try contacting them. I wouldn't get the one on Ebay unless someone said the other definitely won't work. Used/refurbished is not a good idea given your situation. How long will you be staying in Miami?

Hello everybody.
Could you please advise me?
I want to buy a 3G card for my device but I'm lost in this thread.
I have a TPT 1835-25U which has antennas (checked).
I have tried to install 3G modem from my HP Elitebook- Android sees it (new menu item appeared in settings) but failed to activate it - looks like it is not compatible with Lenovo TPT.
I live in Europe so I need HSPA capable device.
Could you please advise what device should be bought by me?
Cause there are both Ericsson and Sierra devices.
For example if such devices are good?

Also, there are some Gobi 3000 devices which are cheaper, but their description states that they are not compatible with Lenovo.
Is it true? I mean is true that they wouldn't work with Lenovo?
For example description for next device indicates its incompatibility with Lenovo:

Thank you in advance.
Hi asclearuc,
You need to get an Ericsson F5521GW card specifically compatible with Lenovo's devices. See my post on page 5 of this thread http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-slate-tablets
DO NOT PURCHASE A "PROTOTYPE" FROM EBAY. Get an official Lenovo-branded card marketed as "Lenovo Mobile Broadnband" or "Thinkpad Mobile Broadband Global". I purchased mine from eBay vendor 180sxsr20 "down under" but it is the only official card I have found being sold (Lenovo has restricted this card as a part sale in most markets). The vendor has more on sale at the moment. See http://www.ebay.com/itm/LENOVO-Mobile-Broadband-ER
Enjoy!
