Re: $970 to replace usb and powerbutton

Lenovo returned repair apart and damaged. Sent back to Levono to repair. They want $970 to replace system board and usb.(Unit is 5 months old). They want $950 to repair the damage they performed. $1920. Yikes perhaps the worst experience for me with repairing a product. Mostly a company would repair damage they performed. My problem is progressing in the wrong direction.

Re: $970to replace usb,powerbutton+$950 to repair damage they performed?was returned to me in two ha

same problem, but different results.

I order my TPT in september 2011, received of on October, 19 days back order. Since then, I am paperless at home and at work. thanks to the Quill apps. My 3 -year old son and I dropped it on the floor more then once, but it did not break.

Last March I started to ger the power switch problem. I phoned tech support, they sent me a pre-label box so I can ship them my TPT. Monday morning I drop my bpx to the courrier, thru the tracking number I was capable to see that the repair depot has received it on Tuesday morning. Thursday morning Lenovo was shipping it back to me and the courrier drop it at my door on Friday morning the same week. This took place in Canada.

The repair slip stated that they replaced the board and updated the BIOS at no cost (warranty). Upon restoring my backup , I am back operational since then. Despite the same switch problem, I am please with the service I have received.

I love my TPT.

@pghFL - I know I thought I was re-reading the thread where I saw his post.  I guess he/she's quite happy with the service that felt the urge to share it everywhere. Good for him/her...

@ OP - sorry you're having all those troubles.  I cannot imagine going thru all of that myself.  That's service at the suckiest level possible.  I cannot understand how all this is happening to you when you're perfectly within warranty coverage... Really sorry.

OP is having a bad time with service. How does someone posting how happy they are with service help the OP?

[ Edited ]

Just got my Ideapad K1 tablet back from their service center.  Wouldn't boot - looped at the nVidia screen indefinitely.  I had to box it up and ship it in myself (unlike the box that you get for thinkpads and one poster in this thread got).  Anyway, it came back with a replaced motherboard and (THANK GOODNESS!) Android 3.1 O/S - I've had nothing but trouble since the upgrade to 3.2.1.

I think there must have been evidence of liquid damage or abuse on the OP's Ideapad for them not to repair it under warranty.

Wrong forum. This is the ThinkPad Tablet forum. Also wrong to assume damage or negligence on the part of the OP. Benefit of the doubt works better here.
